Photography School, I am going to Salt Lake Community College to get a degree in photography. That doesn't mean I'm a better photographer than a person who hasn't. Again: time, effort and commitment. I feel that photo classes have enriched my love for the ART of photography. I don't think a person gets into photography just to be a wedding photographer, or at least they shouldn't. Honestly though, thats where the quick money is made. I love photography for other reasons. Expressions in someone's face. The love a person can show just through an expression. That is beautiful to me. I would love to enjoy a long career in Photojournalism, traveling around the world and taking pictures of life and lifestyles and the reality of human life. How amazing would that be. I love the story one picture can tell.
Unfortunately, photography is so hard to concrete a career in. Most people decide to never look beyond weddings, senior portraits, etc. However, I don't look down upon those types of photography. I love to shoot weddings and portraiture's of people. Its part of expressionistic life. I am just excited to explore that type of photography to a journalistic type. Which I hope comes through my photography. I love candid moments between two people. It doesn't matter who it is between.
I've always had a fascination with photography. I think my dads love for pictures really enforced that fascination. He has many books of photos he's taken over our lifetime. He was as amateur of a photographer as you would think. He just used photography and pictures to seal a moment in time. Something for him to reflect on later as we grew up. I am the same, but with more tools to help me express my vision of a great photo.
I don't shoot to make money. I shoot to artisticly capture those tender moments in sharp focus.:)
